Hi looking for advice on the best holiday where it’s still warm in Oct half term (not boiling as I am not keen!)
First holiday abroad for family of 5 - kids will be 20, 19 and 16. We want a beach holiday with as little stress as possible( did think villa but not keen on driving so prob best package deal?). Looking at max of £5000 but cheaper would be great. Thanks

Lanzarote? We liked Costa Teguise.

I took my daughter, son in law and grandchildren, 6, 4 and 3 to Didum in Turkey last Oct half term. We had a fantastic time.
It was warm and dry and the sea was lovely and warm.

Cyprus or Canaries but both come with the chance of rain. We had brilliant days but also clouds and rain on the off occasion.

Turmey and Greece are at the end of their season and restaurants may already have closed and facilities may be not all available.

We've been to Turkey and Rhodes during October half terms and really enjoyed both. We've been three years out of the past four and had weather of mid twenties, lots of sunshine and little rain (though this is obviously not guaranteed). Cooler in an evening, need a jacket or jumper. Swimming pools have been quite cold, sea much warmer. We've been all inclusive, though visits into local towns have still had plenty open and places have still been fairly busy.

Mexico could be within budget if you didn’t do AI.

Sicily is lovely in October.

NCTDN · 15/04/2025 20:16

Canaries to me is a safe bet. We’ve had lovely weather every time we’ve been at half term.
we’ve had great weather in Majorca too but think we were just lucky.

Sicily is lovely in October.

Is it warm then ?

Twilightstarbright · 15/04/2025 20:45

We do canaries. Friends have had a lovely time in Turkey. Could be a nice time for Naples/Pompeii/Amalfi coast if you want to sightsee rather than sunbathe?

Dubai, Oman.

I’d pick Cyprus or S Coast Turkey (Dalaman/Fethiye/Oludeniz)

We had lovely weather in Fethiye area last October half term, although I think we were on the lucky end weather wise. Agree with PP sea is warmer than pool.

Jumping on as I’m wondering the same. We’ve done Gran Canaria and Cyprus in Protaras - better weather in Gran Canaria and I like it more but I’d be open to giving paphos a try in Cyprus.
Folks who have been to Turkey - is there much to see outside the hotels in the resorts?
Im also thinking about Morocco- any experiences? I’ve been to Marrakesh and was not keen but that may have been the company (exP)

Most of the Mediterranean will still be warm-but-not-boiling. One issue is that after the last Sunday in October the sun will set at 6pm and it will not be warming you much after 4pm. The pools will be getting a bit chilly but the sea will still be quite warm from the summer (the Med is at its coldest in March, not December).
