Hi, appreciate this is being way too picky but just seeing if anyone sees this list and thinks they know just the place! Criteria =

  • Max 6/7 hours flight from any London airport
  • Must be a direct flight route for BA, Quantas or Emirates (I know this is mad but truly terrified flyer and these are the only ones I feel ok with)
  • As exotic/ tropical as possible but safe!
  • Lots of culture if possible. No "Little England Brits Abroad" vibe
  • Good luxury all inclusive options
  • Good weather in Aug, no likely hurricanes

Does such a place exist?

Plus it’s not overrun with British lager louts, you have to be very careful in Cyprus and turkey to avoid them. I’m much less constrained than you in travel options and still came across unpleasant rowdy brits, Dutch and Germans in both those places.

Croatia is lovely but I’m not sure it has what you’re after, there are indeed all inclusives but they are a bit of an outlier.

Club Med, Mark Warner etc could work for you. I think they both have places in Sardinia and Sicily

Gattopardo · 09/04/2025 23:11

Oh! It seems they don’t any more (or never had) places in Sardinia. Club med has Sicily. If I had the money I’d go there.

Personally I loved Corsica, and it's certainly more upmarket and generally considered posh. Gorgeous beaches and also plenty to see. They are not that into AI there though and August is peak season, so island will be packed.

If you look around, I think you can find a Greek IKOS in your price range. Need to share a room with kids though.

I would say Sardinia. The beaches are like the Caribbean

Another place you could consider is Sardinia. It has beaches that look like you could be somewhere like the Caribbean, short flag carrier flight options, and a lot of very high end accommodation. It’s where the glitzy Italians go.

Sardinia is a great shout - does anyone have any hotel recommendations? We also love Club Med and didn't know they had Sicily so will take a look

I’ve been to Corsica and Sardinia and preferred Corsica.

Morocco ?

Abracadabra12 · 10/04/2025 12:06

I’ve heard good things about Zighy Bay in Oman if you want luxury, family friendly AI

We love Corsica. The Grand Hotel Cala Rossa is on my wish list, I haven't been but love the beach and location and it looks fabulous. I don't think it meets your criteria though, not AI. Corsica isn't really an AI kinda island.
