we were thinking here maybe cheap and good location and nice big rooms.

If anyone can tell us somewhere really fab I would be most grateful!

Can be b&b or hotel don't mind really.

I just moved back after a couple of years living near DC. You're right about the neighbourhood - good place to stay. I would also look at hotels closer to the National Mall, but I love walking up and down it, which might be considered eccentric.

A visiting ladies tag rugby team from Bermuda (seriously) stayed at Hotel Rouge on 16th St about 10 minutes walk from Dupont and loved it. Some of the rooms are a bit odd, apparently - but as long as excessive dark red draperies don't put you off, I don't see any reason to worry about it! We used to put visiting speakers up in boring places like Hiltons and such what, but there's no real reason to recommend them, if you see what I mean. Of course, there's nothing much wrong them either!

Incidentally, American B&Bs tend to be countrified and chinzy and more expensive than hotels. Took me a while to get the hang of that one...

The hotel you've looked at has got some good reviews on www.tripadvisor.com. Someone has also put up a video of the room and there are also photos.

Would agree that many American B & Bs are countrified and expensive. Children also are not really catered for in such establishments.
If you are travelling with children I would look at the Embassy Suites chain or Washington Hilton and Towers (both are near Dupont Circle).

ooooh, Dupont Circle - good location.
Not stayed in this hotel, but have stayed in Hotel Rouge, which was good, but the one you've chosen looks much more pristine.
Would agree the B&Bs tend to be a bit chintzy - you'll find them in Georgetown.
