Should I still go?

I have a holiday to playa blanca on Lanzarote booked in 3 days and the other person I was going with is unexpectedly unable to go. I am currently weighing up whether to go alone or just cancel. I will only lose £200 if I don't go but can cancel my hotel for free. Would you go solo or not bother? I've been before but only in a group and so not sure how it would be alone. If anyone has restaurants and bar recommendations that are a bit quieter and friendly for solo travellers that'd also be great.

I would absolutely go alone, OP! More people need to embrace solo travel, it's the best way to put yourself out there and meet other people. I've been to Gran Canaria on my own, can't give any recommendations for Lanzarote as I haven't been, so I'll let someone else weigh in on that one. Anyway, enjoy!

I've travelled a lot on my own, admittedly not for quite a few years, I loved being able to do exactly what I want the entire trip. Evening meals were always the most tricky, I used to take a book and read when not eating, this was in the days when WiFi wasn't available everywhere. I would be happy to go on my own now, but realise it's not for everyone.

I’d check the weather for Lanzarote first just in case there’s an unexpected period of poor weather.

Assuming you have the time off anyway I’d be racking my brains if there’s anything I’d like to do or go to instead. If I can’t think of something I think I’d head for the sun.
