Dropping DD off at Heathrow T5 - tips please

I want to drop my DD off at Heathrow Terminal 5. I'm only familiar with flights from Manchester but it was cheaper (even with overnight hotel at Cobham) to fly from London for this flight.
I told her "I'll make it work" which is code for "I have no idea how to do it yet".

Anyone got any tips? It's a long trip for her so I want to say a proper goodbye to her (not just chuck her out the car and shout 'bye' over my shoulder as I drive off).

What are short term parking options?

Thanks

There is a drop off area where you could get out and give her a hug and say goodbye, but you can’t leave your car there and go into the terminal building. This costs £6 and you pay online in advance of afterwards.

Otherwise the short stay carpark is the best option. It’s £7.50 for 0-29 mins or £11.50 for 30 - 44 mins or £14.59 for 45 - 59 mins. You just take a ticket on the way into the carpark and pay at the machine on the way back out.

Check your car is ULEZ compliant or pay the fee.

No tips on parking but we flew to Thailand from Heathrow, it's absolutely bloody huge.
We usually fly from Leeds or Manchester.
We didn't realise the vastness of Heathrow, we ended up running as we had to get on a train within the airport to get to our gate.
So my tip is to make sure she knows where she's going and leave plenty of time to get to her gate.

You get 2 hours free at T5 long stay. You can park get the bus with her to the terminal, get her checked in then bus back.
