Travelling down from Glasgow to the Lake District and want to stop somewhere on the way down for a couple of nights. Where would you suggest that is good for dog walking? We've stayed in Kirby Lonsdale before and liked it but looking for other suggestions.

Do you mean somewhere in Dumfries and Galloway? Scottish Borders are South East Scotland

could be Dumfries and Galloway - just somewhere on the way from Glasgow to Lake District - so through the Border. Apols if I've got the terminology wrong!

Moffat? can do Grey Mares Tail walk, among others.
Or if you prefer larger place Dumfries.

Sandyhills Beach allows dogs without restrictions all year round and the walk from there to Kippford is a gorgeous coastal walk. There’s another dog friendly beach within a 5 mile walk of Sandyhills at Rockcliffe. At low tide it’s possible to walk across the causeway to Rough Island (except in May and June due to nesting birds).

OOh yes, Moffat is a good shout, I've stopped for a cup of tea there before and like it.
