Area recommendations in Paris for teen DD

Evening all,

My DD is planning on going to Paris this summer for a week with a friend. This will be her first time travelling without family. I haven't been to Paris in years but remember it being a bit tricky to navigate because of men hassle and some areas being really quite rough.

To be honest I can completely imagine a French Mum thinking the same thing about London.

Can anyone recommend a good area for two 18 year-olds to stay in Paris, conversely any areas you'd say absolutely nope to? Many thanks in advance.

Budget? The Marais and Bastille would be lovely and pretty safe but would cost a lot…Latin Quarter is a bit cheaper, studenty so could work well?

Going Back about 20 years, myself and a friend booked a cheap few days in Paris and stayed in Pigalle - was told it was the theatre district ( it does have quite a few- Moulin Rouge ) What we didn’t realise was, it was also the red light district.
Im not a prude by any means but there were a few sights/ situations which made me quite uncomfortable. No idea if it’s still the same!

I was there earlier this year and we stayed out near the École Veterinaire in Maisons-Alfort as my DH was there for work. It seemed a safe area, family friendly and about 40 minutes in on the Metro. Hotels are probably cheaper too and it's handy for the shops in Bercy.

I would try the Bercy area, some nice reasonable chain hotels like Ibis, Novotel etc. Bercy Village has some nice cafes and restaurants and shops (including a Sephora!) and the metro is in the doorstep. It's on the newest line and is modern and feels much safer then some of the other metro stations. I've stayed there by myself for work and also with family on holiday.

You’re probably sorted by now, as I’ve only just spotted this. My recco would be Canal Saint Martin. Cheaper than Le Marais, but same cool vibe, great shops and bars etc, plus the canal is gorgeous. I also really like the 9th around Rue Cadet, just south of Pigalle.
