Small crossbody bag for travel essentials

I've tried Style and Beauty earlier on, but received very few responses. I'm after a smallish - maybe 20cm by 20cm bag for holding things like phone, credit card, cash, passport, tissues etc, that I can wear close to my body.

There have been suggestions for Mia Tui in old threads and I like the look of the Emma and Lottie bags, but they don't seem to have many photos of what they are like inside.

Also had a look at Roka Bond and Chelsea, which are around the right size, but again, I'd like to know about what they are like in reality for travelling. Do they have many zipped pockets inside?

Osprey is another one on my radar, but this one might be a bit too small.

Any recommendations anyone? Please don't say the Uniqlo shoulder bag.

TIA

I absolutely love Roka, I have several cross bodies and a couple of rucksacks in regular use and they still look like new. Kipling is a good shout too.

It's worth checking out Vinted for both those labels currently as Roka have just done a lucky dip sale and this always brings loads to Vinted.

@TheFormidableMrsC I have had a look at Roka on Vinted and they are full of brand new Paddington hip bag and Chelsea bags, all selling around £15, which I have favourited so far.

I love the Paddington crossbody which is small but surprisingly spacious. I have several colours.

Did you say this because you already have one and hate it or because it's not stylish or something else ?

I bought one for a city tour and tbh it was fab - fitted everything in and more

I'm not really bothered about style. I have looked at reviews including a Youtube video, and it didn't seem to have many compartments, which I would like.

Do people generally go for a bag that has anti theft technology/RFID?

Try Travelon - Travelon Anti-theft Heritage Crossbody Bag available on Amazon for £36.
I have Pac Safe but their quality has gone down and prices gone up. I have had one for about 15 years and friend recently bought one and the quality is nowhere near as good and that one is now just over £100.

Yes I have one too, it’s very roomy for the size

Ah yeah no real compartments inside, my one had a small flimsy flap but for the few things I wanted to put in it while travelling I really didn’t need to separate anything out. It’s so compact but can fit loads in however if I had wanted to carry loads I would have gotten a bigger bag!
Anyway mine was really perfect and for about £15 it did the job and I’ll use it as my travelling bag going forwards.

Yes I have one of these and it’s a great size for travelling. Surprisingly roomy. Doesn’t look expensive so hopefully less attractive to potential pickpockets.

@xsquared we don't normally worry about an anti-theft bag but we're heading to South American and I keep reading recommendations for one in Buenos Aires where we'll be visiting for a bit. It feels it may be a less hassle option just to buy one...

Sigh. I should have scrolled past this thread as I've gone down a rabbit hole and have come out having ordered this 🙄

To be fair I have been looking for a white or cream crossbody for quite while. I do have the perfect small crossbody for travel (it just needs a zip pocket for passports) but it's mustard and I'm going off it having worn it pretty much every day for a couple of years.

I agree with a pp about a softer "flatter" bag for travel.

I've got the roka Paddington. It is perfect.

CerealPosterHere · 08/03/2025 12:55

I got a Kipling one for this as plenty of sensible sized zipped compartments. Not overly stylish but good size and practical.
