Has anybody been on a long hall holiday that they didnt think they would like but it ended up being a holiday of a lifetime .
Iam thinking of something unusual and not the same road trip that all the travel agents promote and ifso why did it impress you so much.

I've had a number of long haul holidays, but not to places I didn't think I would like.
Same as all other holidays - if I don't think I'll like it, I don't go.

Surely everyone does this ?

There are many places that I've found disappointing after I've got there.
Where are you thinking about?

Taiwan. We got a good deal and booked with fairly modest expectations and absolutely loved it. I’d love to go back one day.

Taipei is a great city. It’s clean, modern, open and spacious and has some really great architecture, temples, museums etc. The island as a whole is gorgeous. We loved Taroko Gorge in particular. I wouldn’t go in August next time though. It was really hot and humid.

This is what i mean, cheers .
Somtimes we go as a part of a large group or as a less willing family member.Sometimes it might just be a place thats only just becoming to be open to tourism and when you get their you suprised by how good or beautiful it is and are suprised by how its stayed so undiscovered by the general public for so long.
