Solo holiday to Italy

I'm considering a solo holiday to Italy at the end of May.

Looking for some recommendations of where to stay, things to do, etc.

I've always wanted to go to Lake Garda, but some colleagues have also recommend Sorrento recently.

I don't want to stand out like a sore thumb being on my own, eating on my own, but I also would like to get out and about and see some sights, experience the culture etc.

Any help appreciated!

How fabulous!
Lake Garda is lovely. I would recommend staying somewhere with a railway station (eg Desenzano), so that you can travel easily to Verona/Venice, if you wish.
Don't worry about eating alone - nobody will care.

Thank you @Cynic17 I'll check out that area.

Don't worry about standing out, always lots of solo travellers plus business travellers of course. Have chatted to many solos over the years, often from the USA doing their dream trip

I've been to Italy solo a few times and loved it. Book a couple of tours if you're worried, its a great way to skip queues, get recommendations, chat to others.
