Hi, we are going to France in early July - exact date tbc. Last year DH's friend was stunned to find we'd paid nearly £400 to use the Tunnel - he had paid under £200 IIRC to go on the Seacat.
Anyone know which is cheapest and can I assume if we book early it will be cheaper? Would mid week be cheaper than weekend? Have to go out soon but any responses gratefully received! TIA

Speed Ferries from Dover much cheaper than anyone else. Check their website.

We used our Tesco clubcard points to go across on the ferry last August cost was £130 for one car, Dover to Calais.

MId week really early in the morning will be cheapest. Early booking would have meant booking at the beginning of the year I'm afraid you've missed the boat if you pardon the pun. You can pick up last minute bookings at bargain prices but there is no garauntee there will be spaces.

Thank you all of you - will check out some of those ideas - except Flower's LOL! Will get a move on and get something organised. Thanks again.

I don't think it's too late at all to get a cheap price on the ferry. We have just confirmed dates in late July when we are travelling to South of France to see dh's aunt and when I checked P&O last night there was lots of availability on Dover-Calais and return and that was going on the first weekend of state school hols and coming back in Aug. The cheapest I got was £70 return by juggling the times but there was lots at about £110.

Dover/Dunkirk via Norfolk Lines.
