Tenerife in December?

My dd8 has had a ROTTEN year between health and bullying. A real doozey
of a year ☹️all she really wants for Xmas is to be “surprised” by a trip away on a plane somewhere “warm”. I don’t earn much but have been putting some
away and have a budget of £1200 and can see I could take her to the canaries for 4 nights all inclusive leaving on last day of term and coming home for Xmas. Is this mad? I can’t afford a longer trip with my work, so that rules out further flung exotic locations that I couldn’t afford anyway! Pool at hotel is heated but will the air itself feel warm at that time of year? If not, is there anywhere else I could consider? desperate to make it happen for her 🤍

Tenerife is fabulous in December! Just make sure you're in the South.

rainydaysfun1 · 04/11/2024 12:43

Oh thank you! that’s great to hear!

Did Xmas in Tenerife a few years back. It was lovely! I wouldn’t do all inclusive though. Any self catering options so you could stay longer?

Viavita · 04/11/2024 12:46

We did Christmas in Tenerife for about 20 years, until the grandchildren came along.
I've never done all inclusive but go for it, I say !

so we could do self catering apartment at the hotel - fully admit I’m utterly naive about abroad hols, we only ever go to caravan parks once a year so thought it would be easier health wise with her needs to go to a big complex with pool / buffet and just sort of lie like a beached whale beside a warm pool 😂bit nervous to do self catering and have to go out to eat etc as her mobility isn’t the best so walking long stretches for our meals wouldn’t be fun, and I’m keen to have 4 days of no cooking!

We were in Tenerife last year for Xmas. The weather was lovely during the day, just need a light jacket or cardigan in the evenings.

rainydaysfun1 · 04/11/2024 12:48

Sadly can only do 4 nights as can’t take her out of school early (she’s missed a lot due to illness) and my employee needs me back at my desk by Monday 23rd☹️

My friend goes to Morocco every Christmas and she says how hot it is, you might get more for your money!

Hurdlin · 04/11/2024 12:56

Your plan sounds great, all inclusive will be hassle-free for you. Is it a package that includes transfers from the airport too?

Hope you and your DD have a lovely time.

rainydaysfun1 · 04/11/2024 13:06

yes! Lovely easy private transfer just 30 mins from airport (I’m the most unadventurous traveller in the world lol but sort of need to be with her health needs)

I tried to look at Morocco actually but can’t seem to fly there from Scotland without going via English airports and the time we have is so little as it is I’m not keen on extending journey time - unless anyone has any Morocco package trip tip offs
From cold Scotland?!

Oh! Morocco accessible from Glasgow actually- will that be hotter? Prices seem on par.

Tenerife will be great, weather good but not too hot. I wouldn't go to Morocco because of the way animals are treated.

Tenerife is perfect in December! Super warm still but not as busy as the summer months - enjoy!!

rainydaysfun1 · 04/11/2024 13:44

Thank you so much

DH and I go to Tenerife usually a couple of times a year from November to March.

We’ve never had a bad week weather wise, it’s always showing 22/23 on the weather app but in reality feels like 25+ when you’re there in the sun, especially along the coast.

Look up Siam Park it’s a really nice water park in Tenerife. I think it’s Costa Adeje I can’t remember but I took at bus there.

Oh it’s just 1.5 km from the hotel I’ve booked!

Ah you sound like such a lovely mum! Hope you and dd have a great time. I'm actually off on Dec 23rd to Tenerife for the first time with just my 5 year old DD as well. We'll be in Costa adeje for 4 nights and I can't wait!

CeeJay81 · 04/11/2024 15:32

I'm glad you booked. Another one of to Tenerife in December, for the first time. The last week of term(14th to 21st). Staying in Los Christianos. Looking forward to it too!

Raindropskeepfallinonmyhead · 04/11/2024 15:57
