We're planning a big holiday next year now my toddler has his own seat, we've been flying since he was 9 weeks and has coped well with 4-5 hour flights. I know we could be setting ourselves up for 9+ hours of pain but we're keen to see places before we're stuck to school holidays!
We're currently torn between California and Sri Lanka - two very different destinations! California appeals due to its similar standard of living meaning we can expect similar routine/food etc to survive our first long haul, with beaches/Yosemite and potentially Disney land as a bonus. However Sri Lanka for its wildlife, laid back and slower way of life is equally appealing.
We'd like to stay in more than one place in either country to see as much as we can and thinking between 2-3 weeks.
Has anyone done anything similar? Have any families been to both and can recommend one over the other? Any tips to survive?!
*edit - Worth adding we're also planning to start trying for baby #2 next year, so there is the potential I could also be pregnant. This doesn't put me off travelling but will need consideration!
