Dubai at Christmas

I’m thinking about a 5 day holiday to Dubai in mid December the week before Christmas. We are a family of 3 and want pool days, water parks, sunbathing and swimming in the sea. Has anyone been at that time and can tell me whether it will be too cold for that?

It’s perfect. You’ll probably get some rain which is fine. The downside of rain is that they can’t cope - no taxis, roads flooded but when its fine you can be outdoors and enjoy.

It's still going to be 17-22 degrees so warm, sometimes even hotter, for a 7 hour flight + I'd head the other way and look at the states and Barbados, Mexico etc.

@greenrollneck i don’t think 17-22C is lie on the beach and swim in the sea temps!

It's also peak time so check prices, it wouldn't be on my list for a pre Christmas sunshine break. But they do fab decorations and the city looks very pretty.

I’ve only been in winter and the sea has always been on the hotter side of warm!

I've lived in Dubai for 16 christmases and in all that time it has never rained once and has been absolutely beautiful!! It's very festive and all the hotels will do Christmas brunches and have lots of decorations. It's a wonderful place to spend Christmas. I

Our friends lived in Dubai and said they found the pools too cold to swim in during December, especially as a lot of pools are shaded to be used in the heat.

17-22 isn’t warm enough for a water park for me Dubai or elsewhere!

What temperatures were you enjoying around Christmas time? I’ve found a half price deal to Atlantis and the only reason i’m hesitating is the temperature. I haven’t been away for 18
months now and really just need a beach and hot weather with my little family so don’t want to spend a ton on something that doesn’t fit the bill.

We were there a few years ago between Christmas and New Year. The weather was perfect and we had fantastic views off the Burj Khalifa (you need to book well in advance).

AttilaTheMeerkat · 16/10/2024 14:44

I’ve seen plenty of people down at Jumeirah beach at Christmas time swimming in the sea, they did not look cold. Atlantis also has a great sized aquarium for the children to see.

soberfabulous · 16/10/2024 16:27

bellesnandgraces it's literally weather perfection, I would say 25-28 in the day and 23 in the evening (temperatures don't drop much at night).

January February is when it drops to about 19-21 and us desert dwellers freak out and start wearing jumpers for two weeks 🤪

My parents and grandma came every year for Christmas for 11 years and loved the weather.

Summertimer · 16/10/2024 17:13

Nephew and family live there. It’s too hot to visit in summer. We couldn’t bear it outside. It’s perfect at Christmas

I would think twice about it . The fighting between Israel and Lebanon could escalate and pose a risk to the wider region. The UAE is close to Iran over the Persian gulf.

It’s lovely at that time of the year. We spent most days in the swimming pool or water park when we went.
