Can you do Istanbul in a weekend?

I'm planning to book a long weekend (4 days Fri-Mon) away for my husbands birthday next year. We have both wanted to go to Istanbul for a long time but put it off due to having small children (this will be a child-free holiday). Is it feasible to do a weekend away in Istanbul?

We will want to see a few sites but mostly going for the food/markets and to relax on one of the days. Have you been before and do you have any recommendations? (Hotels, restaurants for a birthday meal, sites).

Special birthday so going to spend a reasonable amount but by no means have an endless pot of money!

Yes, you can. It’s an amazing city. Get the boat across the Bospherous (sp) and then come back and enjoy freshly caught mackerel in a sandwich at the ferry terminal. Go to the blue mosque and the grand souk and just wander. Have a great time.

Yes of course. There is something for everyone. Great markets, architecture, history, restaurants, bars. You'll have a great time.

Thank you for responding. I'm glad it can be done in a weekend and will look into the suggestions you gave 😊
