Child passport renewal help

So I have a little bit of a dilemma
my son needs a renewed passport before we travel in February
My dilemma is we (his parents) got married but me (mom) is still using my maiden name passport as I still had a lot of years left on it.
When renewing it asks if parents are married and if so what date. Now do I put parent 1. Name as my shown on my passport which is my maiden name
or do I put my married name even though I haven’t yet changed it on my passport
also our wedding certificate is in Spanish as we married in Mexico which they won’t accept so ideally didn’t want to send it off

im a bit stumped!!

For a renewal my memory is the only things we needed were a new photo, and to post back the old passport. So not sure if you will need the marriage certificate?

I would put the name in your passport, as that's the name they have record of. I don't think you will have to send off your marriage certificate if all is the same, just a renewal. If you need it verified, make sure the person who does it knows you are still using your maiden name.

As your main form of ID, passport, is still in your Maiden name, use this as they need to reference your passport. You can list that you are known by your married name too, if you are.

No idea about your marriage cert, but it should all be straightforward. It might be handy to get a certified translation though, as I imagine you'll need it for if you choose to change your name later for official documents like passport, driving licence, bank accounts, etc.

I had to send my marriage certificate on my child's renewal even though my passport (expired) was in my maiden name, and I had married since. Hope that helps!

Your username seems very apt for the day I’m having 😂
yes that does help thank you, can you remember when filling out the parents details did you use the name on your passport or your married name?
thanks

I used my married name, as that is my name now, then in one of the boxes it asks if you have changed your name and when and what it was previously. I was just really straightforward and honest in my answers. I renewed eldest's passport in June, so not that long ago. I didn't renew my passport until a month later after his passport came back. It was all fine though, no issues at all. I did have to call the passport office regarding my other 2 sons' new passports and they couldn't be more helpful. It was really really quick and took 2 weeks from submitting the form and sending the documents to receiving his new passport.

Don't worry too much at this stage. If they have any questions they will get back to you very quickly by e-mail and tell you what you need to do to sort it out.

Ok thank you,
my worry was that the marriage certificate is Mexican so knowing wether I need to get it translated at this point
Didn’t want to waste money if not needed this side of Christmas 🙈

Honestly, since it's a renewal I don't think they will mind too much. But please do come back and tell us how it went.

So, I put the date we got married and just my name as shown on my passport. Sent off his old passport and received the new passport a week later!
I was over stressing for no reason x
