Munich October HT

I’m taking DS(10) to Munich in October HT, Saturday to Wednesday. I’m trying to think if I’ve missed anything in my plans.

Saturday- arrive by train, supper at a Bierkeller.
Sunday- climb St Peter’s tower, Deutsches Museum, englische Garten for supper.
Monday- BMW Museum, Olympia Park, Transport Museum. Supper at the Hofbrau Haus for the ompa band.
Tuesday- Erding water park. General potter. Viktuellenmarkt.
Wednesday- leave first thing.

Is there anything I’ve missed? I’m happy simply to be in Germany. DS loves engineering and science.

You can watch surfers in the English garden and if you head to Marienplatz, at 11am, 12pm or 5pm, you can watch the Glockenspiel performance.

Are you likely to be returning at all? I would say Therme Erding is SO much better in the summer with the outdoor section open too that it's worth skipping that one, if you will be going back.

Probably not @HolidayNanny . It will be the second time DS has been (he was 4 last time). I was wondering about Erding. Might need a re-think for that day.

BMW Museum is closed every Monday.

Their hours are:
Tuesday to Sunday: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm (last admission at 5:30 pm).

I don't really agree with this. My DD has always liked the Therme far more in the winter than the summer, especially being there after dark and swimming outside.

One thing to be aware of is that the indoor slides generally only open at 1pm outside weekends and the Bavarian school holidays. And if you are here in the Bavarian school holidays (the week starting 28 October 2024) then prepare for the Therme to be very, very busy!

Even if not a football fan I would recommend a tour of the Allianz Arena.

We did the BMW Museum and it really isn't great so you might want to give it a miss. The Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart is much better.

Interesting that there’s different opinions on Erding. We will be there Bavarian school holiday week.

Yes definitely second this. The tour was fabulous. We even managed to get tickets to a game and saw Harry Kane playing. The atmosphere there was brilliant .
