South East Asia - Easter

After a fairly disastrous summer, we are looking to make up for it with a decent holiday next year and would really like to go to SE Asia. Due to various limitations - Easter 2025 will be the best time for us and we can't book with confidence until December at the earliest.

Does anyone have an travel agent recommendations for this area - we'd normally just book flights and do the rest ourselves, but we don't know the area at all and it will be easier to use an agent. Mid price sort of thing - not backpacker level but we also don't want to be spending super luxury prices and would like a mix of travelling and sightseeing and a bit of beach relaxation - family of 5 with two teenagers and a 10 year old who all love food!

Does anyone have any tips on where best to go in early April - I was originally thinking Thailand and Malaysia, but the internet tells me it will be very hot and humid in Thailand then which won't suit two of us! I'm now thinking Vietnam and maybe Cambodia, although whether that is too much for two weeks (we can probably swing two weeks with travel either side).

Thanks!

Travel Nation - would 100% recommend them and you get personal service (miles above trailfinders who will sell you a bog standard itinerary that suits them more than you and can’t contact them via email etc)

I've just booked with freedom destinations for Borneo / Singapore / Malaysia. Really helpful.

I haven't travelled yet but have a friend who has done a couple of trips with them and was very pleased.

Trailfinders quoted me a ridiculous price for similar holiday.

Thank you both, just had a look at your recs and they both look exactly what we're looking for.

Definitely want to avoid Trailfinders and the like!

We found it much cheaper to book our own flights and accommodation/ trips ourselves compared to using a travel agent. And there's more choice as you're not restricted to using companies on the travel agents books - I think it's important to use small local businesses.

It's so easy as well- the whole region is v geared up for independent travel. We were travelling around so only booked accommodation for the 1st 2 weeks and left booking the rest till we were out there and had decided what we wanted to do!

If you want to do it yourself, you can do research on Travelfish site for places in Vietnam and Cambodia to visit.

We did Vietnam in Easter 2022 - I got a quote from a travel agent at Selective Asia but ended up booking independently as it was a fraction of the price.

There was a typhoon going on when we arrived so we had a couple of days of wet weather but the rest of the time was nice. It did get pretty hot the further south we went - we didn't make it to Ho Chi Minh but got as far as Nha Trang which was hot enough that you didn't want to be doing very much. So if you're worried about the weather, you may be better off staying North.
