Sri Lanka 16 days

Hi, we are after some advice and recommendations. We are looking to book a trip to Sri Lanka around March time for around 16 days. When we travel we generally hire cars and book tours however with Sri Lanka we are unsure whether to go with a a pre organised tour or figure it out independently. Does anyone have any advice or recommendations of companies they have used for tours drivers,transportation etc and did you have a set driver/tour guide for the duration.would also welcome any tips or places/activities you would Definetly add to your itinerary, we are in the beginning stages of planning so open to all options

I went with Sri Lankan Airlines tours when I went just after the tsunami,maybe 20 years ago. They organised everything for me. Excellent service.

Barefoot in Colombo, and Helga's Folly in Kandy. I went twenty years ago, however, so do check them out before going!

I did a 16 day tour with Exodus about 8 or 9 years ago and it was excellent. Looks like their itinerary is much the same still so you could draw some inspiration from this. Highlights were Kandy, the hill station, Galle and a bike ride along canals where we saw so many different types of kingfisher. Beautiful country.
