Security at Birmingham Airport

What’s the security like for BHX airport like at the moment. Flying out next Tuesday at 7am for our honeymoon. I can’t buy fast track unfortunately. Going to do the twilight bag drop the night before but how long should I leave ? Many thanks

Just a short queue that didnt take long at all
Same at Manchester last week... both were much quicker than i expected

Birmingham had the new machines which meant we didnt need to remove liquids from hand luggage which sped things up, but Manchester didnt have those working last week.

We flew from Birmingham two weeks ago. Our flight was at 06:20, we dropped bags the night before and then got to the airport around 04:00. It took about 25 mins to get through security.

I know it made the news a lot a month or two ago, but there hasn't been much reported on it recently which makes me think that most of the problems have been resolved.

We flew out last week on an 8am flight and it took us 1hr 45 mins to drop off the bags and get through security. I made a comment to the guy on security and he said we were lucky and it’s been worse. Luckily we’d arrived with additional time.

Took us about 30 mins to get through security last week at a similar time.
