Genuinely lovely sandy beaches

Hi all, the last few years we’ve been to Turkey (Antalya area) and had fantastic holidays in big all inclusive resorts. The one thing I’ve found disappointing though are the beaches. The sand is really gritty and it’s very pebbly and uneven getting into the sea. This means we tend to avoid the beach. Dh, ds and dd prefer the pools anyway so we just don’t go to the beach. But I really like beaches so next year I’d like somewhere with a genuinely lovely sandy beach. We’ve got family in Dorset and regularly visit the beaches in Poole and they are amazing. The sand is so soft and it’s so easy to walk out to the sea. Where can we go that has beaches like those at Alum Chine, Durley and Sand Banks etc? We usually go for 10 days and spend 5-6K. It doesn’t have to be all in but total spend ideally no more the 6K for a family of 4, kids will be 12 and 9. If you’ve been somewhere with an amazing beach, where was it? Thanks all.

Thanks everyone, some laces to start looking into for next year. Would love to go to Cuba but don’t think I the budget will stretch to long haul (have to go in school holidays) and maybe a bit risky with hurricane season?

Mallorca - Alcudia beach / Playa del Muro (see secreenshot) - very long strip of white silky sand, shallow calm warm sea.
Cyprus - white sand - Nissi beach, yellowish Makronissos beach, and a lot of long sandy (yellow) beaches on the east coast.

And of course Mexica, Dominicana, Cuba, Maldives.

Genuinely lovely sandy beaches

Channel Islands - there are miles of wonderful beaches on all the islands.

Mahmya in Eygypt. Its the most beautiful beach I have been on.

The ocean is CLEAR and sand is so soft.

Menorca beaches are the nicest we've found in Europe, outside the UK! Beautiful soft white sand

Lots of places in Greece - Naxos and Skiathis sprang to mind. Also Corsica

DanceMumTaxi · 12/08/2024 07:40

Thanks all. @TheOneWithUnagi a friend mentioned menorca too so I’ll definitely have a look. I’m surprised at all those saying Greece, we’ve been to a few places and love Greece but the beaches haven’t been soft sand. Going to have a look at these recommendations for sure.

Brittany - around Trinite sur Mer.

Was about to say the same. We’ve just come back. It was beautiful. Lovely beaches all over Brittany. Came back via St Malo and the beaches there were gorgeous, quite crowded though.

Weather unreliable but better than the UK.

Valras plage, south of France. It was amazing, beautiful soft sand, clear waters - I took water shoes as we hadn't been before and I didn't need them.

Sardinia is amazing for beaches. Capriccioli is like heaven.

MissAmbrosia · 12/08/2024 09:50

Or Corsica - Palombaggia or Santa Gulia

DanceMumTaxi · 12/08/2024 09:57

@MojoDojoCasaHouse its the unreliable weather in northern France that really puts me off. We only have one proper holiday a year so I do want guaranteed sun.

Corsica has the most beautiful beaches I've seen in Europe, can also recommend Palombaggia. And not even that crowded compared to many other European countries.
