Forgot to add cabin luggage

Hi there

We are flying to Dubrovnik soon, we don’t normally venture out of the uk so not used to flying and didn’t add cabin luggage. I just went onto Jet2 website and it says it’s now full so can’t add it… just wondering what people do if they can’t take cabin luggage on? I suppose I’ll just have to put my bag in my hold luggage and put my phone, purse etc in my jacket pocket instead?!

Thanks
Josie

Yes

I think you can still take a handbag that goes under the seat-just not anything in the overhead locker.

Doggymummar · 11/08/2024 13:36

I presume you have a hold bag? So you'll have to travel light, it's not a long flight

StuckOnTheCeiling · 11/08/2024 13:37

You’ll be able to take a small bag on, you just need to check the baggage allowance details to check size/weight limits.

theduchessofspork · 11/08/2024 13:37

You get one small cabin bag automatically - check the website for size - then yeah anything extra you pay for a gold bag

VerityUnreasonble · 11/08/2024 13:38

You should be able to take your handbag, or even a small rucksack. Just not a bag that needs to go in the lockers. Handbags count as personal items rather than luggage I think?

Gymmum82 · 11/08/2024 13:38

You can take an under seat bag which are actually quite big. Rucksack sized so if you have hold baggage you’ll be fine

OlympicsFanGirl · 11/08/2024 13:39

You can still take a hand bag or small rucksack on the plane. As long as it can fit under the chair in font.

'Cabin baggage' refers to a small suitcase that goes in the overhead lockers.

Fortyshadesofgreen345 · 11/08/2024 13:43

I usually take a small cross body bag with all
my important documents and cards passport etc which I wear (not a good idea to put ccs and passport etc in jackets as they get left behind so easily) plus a small hold-all that fits under the seat for everything else like a cardigan, medication etc. Have a good trip op!

mondaytosunday · 11/08/2024 14:50

@Fortyshadesofgreen345 and @VerityUnreasonble not sure about Jet2 but EasyJet says one small basin bag, which includes a handbag.
Mind you last month they not only didn't check the size of our bags we took on the plane but my son was carrying mine as well as his and I had my handbag (I was going to put it in my bigger bag but he was ahead of me) and no one stopped him!

Josie1968 · 11/08/2024 14:51

Oh that’s great thanks everyone! I wasn’t sure it was a daft question but we just don’t go abroad much so wasn’t sure… it’s all a bit confusing! 😅

You might also find that Jet 2 provide it automatically at the time of booking so double check that as you might already have it. If not search on Amazon at Ryanair bags as there's some really practical bags that will fit allowances in . We managed a week away with one each .

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 11/08/2024 20:20

Jet2 allows you to take a cabin bag suitcase and a small handbag type bag on all flights . You only need to pay extra if you are adding a check in bag. And if you have a package, they also include the 22 kg check in case .

InsomniacsUnite · 11/08/2024 20:24

Jet2 are quite generous. 10kg cabin bag plus a handbag. 22kg of hold luggage (should you choose it). If there is no room for the cabin bag in the overhead locker, they will generallt put it in the hold luggage for free.

Oblomov24 · 11/08/2024 20:28

Rind them, sometimes they are helpful on the phone.

Bjorkdidit · 12/08/2024 03:17

You don't need to book cabin bags with Jet2,you're allowed 2 bags as standard, which I find is sufficient for a week where the weather will be good.

Are you getting confused with the optional charge for 'guaranteed cabin baggage'? This is a bit pointless for most Jet2 flights as a lot of people are on packages which includes hold bags even if its a 2 day city break, so the lockers aren't usually overfull anyway.

Make sure you understand the liquid rules for your toiletries.

Josie1968 · 12/08/2024 10:39

@Bjorkdidit yes! That’s what it is the charge for guaranteed cabin luggage… I felt anxious because I wouldn’t want my handbag with my purse, phone and bits and bobs going into the hold with all the big suitcases. I’m probably getting confused and overthinking this!

Your handbag won't go in the hold just your bigger wheelie case if you have one.

Just make sure all your vital bits and pieces are in the smaller bag. We've flown jet2 loads and never had our cases taken off us anyway.
