Hull ferry terminal traffic

We will be travelling from Greater Manchester to Hull to catch an overnight ferry later this week. I've checked travel times on Google maps etc and they suggest 2.5 hours for the ~100 mile journey via M62. The maps show several road closures close to the ferry terminal due to ongoing roadworks.

I'm now panicking a bit as we can't leave as early as I'd like due to other commitments and even if traffic is as expected/as per route planner we may only arrive at ferry terminal 45-60minutes before check in closes.

Has anyone driven to the Hull ferry terminal recently or any Hull locals who can comment on how bad the traffic around there is around evening rush hour? Any thoughts on whether you think arriving that close to check in closing is okay?

Thanks

If you are travelling between 8pm and 9 am from 8th August to 11th the Ouse bridge is closed on the M62 which will be adding to the journey. I believe there are a few roadworks in Hull centre too.

I haven’t got the ferry this year but the traffic has always been pretty awful in the past when we’ve used it. I’d make every effort to leave a bit earlier. Fingers crossed it won’t be as bad as usual as it’s school holidays.

I live near Hull.
There are some 40mph restrictions for a lot of the A63 between the M62 and Hull but traffic moves freely.
The traffic around the terminal itself is fine, it's the last few miles of the A63 into and through the centre of Hull which is slow.
It's school holidays so not quite as bad as usual. TBH I don't know what it's like driving through Manchester at 5pm but it's probably similar.
The roadworks started in 2019....

We have family in Hessle and visit a lot, it feels like the work on the Ouse bridge have been there for ever and will never end 😂

@Monkeybutt1 when DC was flat hunting in Hull I remember looking at a flat on Victoria dock but rejected it because of the planned roadworks. This was 2019 and the work is ongoing.
The Ouse bridge would have been cheaper and quicker to build a new one!

Thanks everyone, those roadworks sound like a nightmare for locals. We'll leave as soon as we can and fingers crossed we'll get there with time to spare...

Fingers crossed for you. We are going there other way, South Yorkshire to Manchester airport and I always make us set off too early in case of traffic 🤣
