Eurocamp - Costa Dorada

Hi,

Im looking to book one of the Eurocamp sites in Costa Dorada for September weekend (or as close to then as possible). Looking at Playa Montroig or Platja Cambrils (which looks smaller but is closer to Salou). We have 2 boys aged 5 and 10. Ideally we’d go for Sanguli but there’s not a full week available around that time.
I’m too scared to hire a car for transport (solely due to driving on other side of the road). Has anyone been to either of these camps or can recommend any others in Costa Dorada? Is public transport an option for day trips to towns like salou? It does look like there’s a train line running along the coast. Are taxis reasonable for distances 20 minutes away?

thanks 🙏

I've not stayed in either but have been to Salou recently. There are buses running between Cambrils and Salou (or on up to Tarragona) which would work well for you. You buy cards with 10 journeys on them and it works out cheaply. You could get a train to Barcelona from Salou as well (don't know about Cambrils). And Bus Plana run coach tours there or other places if you'd prefer. Lots to do.

Oh that’s brilliant, thank you! I’ll look into the bus. First time away with the kids abroad. It does look like plenty to do, we are going off recommendations from others who have been.

portaventura is the theme park in Salou, there's also a water park right next to it. Both Salou and Cambrils have those inflatable water parks in the sea, and you can also go on boat trips/rent paddle boards. Tarragona has Roman remains. But the campsite pool will keep them occupied for ages I imagine - pick up some of the large inflatables for this! (If allowed - some hotels don't).

...and if they like knock off football strips, they will be in heaven!

Great to hear about the inflatables 🙂 I’ve heard portaventura is a must and really hoping to catch the water park before it closes mid September. It looks like we might just miss it 😢

Cambrils sounds like it might be best for location then. Oh the older one will be delighted about the football strips! Thank you
