Great hotels with kids?

Thinking about next holidays abroad with kids (either over autumn half term or spring/Easter holidays, find summers abroad too hot).

Generally find it difficult to find a hotel that is well suited for adults (sea views from the room, an interesting location nearby with culture and a local resident population, not bothered about spa facilities) as well as all the fun day time activities for 2 kids that are primary school age (pool, kids club, sandy beach).

Recommendations? Open to suggestions just about anywhere around the world to consider in the future if not now.

The more culture nearby the better (ie less of a massive resort a 30 min bus ride away to a touristy market set up for package tourists which is what I've found so far).
We used to travel a lot around the world before we had the kids and I want them to experience the fun and interesting stuff of travelling and meeting local cultures, food and people while also catering to the children's needs of wanting days playing in a pool or sandy beach.

I haven't been abroad much but we stayed in a hotel in zell am see, Austria last year (going back this year!).
Not sure how old your kids are? Our son is 10.

It was a relatively small hotel which was nice.
Ours was a 5-10 minute walk into the town which is lovely. Loads to do in the area - you can get a summer card free with most hotels and take the cable cars up the mountain and then walk at the top/back down.
Buses/trains are brilliant there so no need for a car and the local ones are all included in the summer card.

We did so much and still have a fresh list for this year.

Our hotel had a pool plus we had free access to a massive indoor pool just a few streets away and the lido in town.

It's a different holiday to a massive tourist resort somewhere but we absolutely loved it as there was so much to do. We enjoy exploring and getting out and about so it was perfect.

Might be worth a look 🙂

France. Il de Re by train is cool, (catch a bus from La Rochelle and hire bikes on the island, stop at a Puy de Fou as a great historical theme park) or self-catering in Brittany-Normandy (lots to see, beaches, great zoos, history). There’s food that is interesting enough for adults and ‘safe’ enough for kids, lovely weather, different language/culture, beaches, the zoos etc are all great and it’s not too far away/expensive.
