Those annoying wristbands

I know this sounds bizarre, I want to take my child to an all inclusive abroad, but last time we did AI we had to wear one of those super annoying wristbands all week and I find them so annoying and uncomfortable. I do recognise I might have some sensory issues though.

Can anyone relate or am I just weird?!

Obviously just me then lol!

Not all AI have them. The last couple I've been to didn't.

NashvilleQueen · 04/07/2024 07:34

What's the alternative? Being asked to show Id for every single meal/snack/drink? It's a quick way for staff to verify you're staying there and on AI.

SoupDragon · 04/07/2024 07:37

the AI I stay at just asks for your room number.

budgiegirl · 04/07/2024 10:37

Many don't have them. They're generally used in hotels that offer a choice of all-inclusive, half board etc. If the hotel is totally all inclusive, then they usually won't have wrist bands

Last AI in Bulgaria the deal was just AI and we all had to wear the dopey bands.

get a lanyard or something you can clip to your clothes.

Iberostar Anthelia in Costa Adeje, Tenerife just takes your room number, no stupid wristbands. It's a pretty good hotel too, just in case you're looking for a recommendation.

If they're using wristbands they aren't going to let you put them on something removable that you can give to other people.

MrsTerryPratchett · 04/07/2024 15:11

I can remove them and put them back on [smug]. Years of festivals and having relatively big wrists and relatively narrow hands.

I get your irritation. It’s not an issue I have very often as we’re too poor for the AI holidays. 😂

TwixOwl · 04/07/2024 20:02

I've just gone ahead and booked the hotel which comes with the annoying wristbands. I'll just deal with it!

Yep,they are annoying, IKOS resorts don’t have wristbands they just ask your room number. If it’s a resort with a wristband, when they fit it, make sure it’s loose enough to slip off at night, and back on again when you leave your room. Have a lovely holiday OP.

I've already said - get something to clip it to your clothes.

There are lots of options - this is a magnetic one which can hold sunglasses or id badges or a wristband - is great for adults (no holes in your clothes ) but may need a pin one for kids to stop them pulling it off.

???

The hotels I've been too like this have stretchy rubber ones that can be swum in but removed.

They aren't shackles!

The one I went to had those plastic wristbands you have to cut off.

the one I go to regularly now has none, which is far superior.

I am definitely with you. I hate the idea of having a stupid band on my wrist for two weeks. I would avoid any hotel that does that.
Actually I hate AI hotels generally but those wristbands make me loathe them even more 😂
