Hi all, I want to book a week's holiday in Devon asap in August for myself dp, and dd who will be 4. I have got a good brochure for accomodation, but have no idea about what area to stay in, does anyone have any recommendations that will help me and info about places of interest in these areas especially things to do for dd.such as beaches, playgrounds, etc. Thanks.

We had low expectations of Watermouth Castle too lisa, in fact we nearly didn't go at all. We had to be asked to leave in the end

This link has been useful for me too, though we have booked our holiday, a week at Knowle Farm just outside of Totnes with a 3 year old and a 1 year old, lots of ideas on things to do now

CHUNKYMUNKEY, you must come back and resurrect this thread in August to tell us how you got on!

CHUNKYMUNKEY · 09/01/2005 20:17

I will bluesky. Are you going to devon? We are really looking forward to it, we had decided to book in paignton or brixham, but the places we wanted were all booked up, the place we are stying is Buckland Brewer and seems to be nice and well within our budget, and near attractions so fingers crossed.

I don't think we are going this year, probably next, we always visit Brixham area, it has been great reading this thread discovering other hidden places that people love, so are going to start looking into them.

we went to tavistock on our anniversary, and stayed on a small farm, it was v nnice thru blakes cottages. I think it was about £250 for the week (end of april) that was a one bed thou.

If anyone is interested in Woolacombe, we booked through Maddy at www.holidayhomehunter.co.uk. She is very good and understands what it's like to holiday with kids which is a bonus!

we took Frizbe's advice and ditched the near Westward Ho!option for somewhere near Braunton and 5 mins from Saunton Sands, 10 mins from Woolacombe. Thanks and sorry for hijacking
