Holiday recommendations with a 4 year old

Can anyone offer any recommended hotels for a summer holiday with DP and 4 year old DS?

We are happy to consider any European destination.

We have travelled extensively as a couple as we were together for over 15 years before DS arrived but are totally clueless about family friendly places as we used to avoid them!

Thanks in advance for any comments that may assist.

For this summer? How hot are you happy with it being?

Menorca is fab with young families, short flight and generally short transfers

We’re looking for next Summer as we’ve already got UK trips booked for this year but wanted to take him abroad next year while we’ve got plenty of flexibility with dates before he starts school.

If you are happy to drive…We have had several fabulous trips in the Netherlands - not too hot, and incredibly family friendly. I’d recommend a few days in Rotterdam - can do a boat and tram ride, and spend a day at the gloriously cheap and perfect Plaswijkpark (your dc will love it, if it’s hot remember to take swimming stuff for the splash area!)

visit the sandy beaches the The Hague

you could also do a longer stay at Duinrell or BeekseBergen

You could also do a day trip to Efteling

Perfect for family hols honestly my favourite country in Europe!

At age 4 he'll be soaking up anything new like a sponge and still have a sense of wonder.

IME it's the best age to experience Efteling or Disneyland Paris. (Also to visit Father Christmas in Lapland in December but you are not asked for the summer).

It really depends what you like to do yourselves : when mine were 4 and 8 I almost booked Morocco with a trek into the mountains (the children riding donkeys) to stay in Berber villages. At the time I was advised against as I would have been travelling as a lone female with children, but I've always regretted not roping in a relative and just going.

Whatever you choose you aren't going to get a lot of 'you' time, so you may as well gear it as much as possible for him.

Zafiro Menorca is excellent for young families. We went about 4-5 times when ours were smaller. They have a Facebook page

Small hotel, 3 pools, ( toddler pool and shallow one) evening entertainment, close to beaches and marina

I agree with @SpringKitten The Netherlands is just so family friendly and pretty easy to get to from most places in the Uk. Our favourite was Efteling and Duinrell.
