Chemists in Spain are generally great for normal children's ills - earache, diarrhoea etc.

Toys - a few, but if you're going to be on the beach then a bucket and spade will keep him amused for ages!

Food - is fine and there are usually dishes on every menu that your child could/would eat - supermarkets again excellent. At this age, I brought raisins and snacks with me.

The spanish love kids so you will be fine, but I recommend you take your own mecicines. I remember being pregnant and finding out that I couldn't even buy Gaviscon out there because they have different prescription rules. Have had similar problems getting stuff for my kids in France (chidrens ibuprufen I think, can't remember now). I always take calpol & piritin & sting relief etc with me for them and I also take out stuff I might need as well, just in case.

Oh, and you will have no problem with food - even the poshest restaurant will rustle up pasta or something for toddlers - much more receptive to kids than restaurants in the UK. And if you are going to a built-up resort you will always find a british/irish restaurant if you really really cannot do without fish fingers or baked beans or similar....
