Where to book?

Hello, I'm hoping for suggestions of where to go on holiday for one week in either May half term or the summer holidays in 2025 for myself and 7 year old.

I'm looking at either one of the Greek islands (preferably Corfu), or mainland Spain or one of the Spanish islands though not the Canaries.

A small family run type apartment place, self catering or B&B, pool (not a deal breaker), short walk to beach, local restaurants and shops etc., things to see and do either within walking distance or easy public transport. Somewhere relatively flat too rather than a hotel at the top of a hill and the amenities all at the bottom.

Hope I'm not asking for the moon on a stick, thank you in advance!

Capistrano village in Nerja (about 40 mins from Malaga airport) has nice self catering villas & apartments - there are pools & a bar/ restaurant on site & a bus from Capistrano to both the beach (20 min walk but bit steep) & the old town.

Thank you, ideally I'm looking for somewhere a bit flatter and closer to amenities but will look to see what is around Nerja.

Lots of nice hotels and apartments in Kassiopi and Roda in Corfu.

Whats lovely about Greece in general is that so many hotels/b&bs are family run.

Sidari is very flat too but many dont like it as there are a lot of british bars.
I like the Canal D'amour end of Sidari, its away from all the tribute acts😂 and has lots of little beaches and family run hotels. Love the Canal D'amour beach bar, always lots of families there using the pool for the day and they have their own accommodation too(but they are just one room/studio), also, swing chairs that look out to sea!

If going to Canaries , Caleta de fuste and Corralejo in Fuerteventura are flat and good for families, no mad nightlife etc. Just check on booking.com for hotels in those areas in your price range.

Sorry I just realised you said NOT the Canaries. Ignore the last part so.

Are you looking for cheap and cheerful or something more upmarket? Are you hoping for lots of culture or will a seaside holiday town/resort be enough?

Thanks @Notimeforaname no worries, maybe I should consider the Canaries too. Too many British bars defo not my scene either if you know what I mean 😂

Something in between all of what you've said really, somewhere we can relax by the pool for a few days but equally with some culture and sightseeing relatively easy to get to. Something authentic where you can get a feel for the local culture and decent local seafood. I would prefer Greece really I think. Not wall to wall British and Irish bars, definitely not tactastic 😉

My brother is a massive fan of kefalonia with his son who is a similar age. (I’ve not been to Greece since I was 11 so not much help). It does look lovely though.
