Flights to Nice - 10 days - stuck!!

Husband booked flights to Nice ages ago but we don’t have any accommodation booked. Going for 10 days in July. Would ideally stay in two areas.

We normally go to Italy, like the lakes, Sorrento, Florence. Ideally old town, quirky, charming, winding narrow streets, small restaurants etc…

Where would you recommend to stay around Nice? everywhere I look I find fault with! Specific hotel recs even more appreciated!

What’s your budget?

KnickerlessParsons · 25/05/2024 11:21

Frèjus is nice and not too far away, ditto St Augulf.
Cheaper but a 10mins inland, look at Roquebrune sur Argens.

I can't recommend any hotels though sorry.

Thanks @KnickerlessParsons will take a look!

£200ish per night @cherryassam ?

my two recommendations would be:

Antibes - La Jabotte
Mougins - Les Mas de Mougins

If you’re going to hire a car, I’d definitely recommend Hotel Eze Hermitage.

Ville Franche was lively when I visited about 10 years ago

Chocbuttonsandredwine · 25/05/2024 18:14

“Lovely”

lively too. But mostly lovely 😂

blackcherryconserve · 25/05/2024 18:37

We used to stay at the Hotel Windsor in the musicians district. 5 mins from beach and 5 mins from centre of town. Nice is fab with a lovely old town and is easy to hop over to Italy for the day if you want.

KnickerlessParsons · 25/05/2024 22:54

You can also get the train to Monte Carlo from Nice.

FeelinSpendy · 25/05/2024 23:16

No specific hotel recommendations but Antibes, Juan les Pins and Villefranche are lovely towns on the water, or if you are happy to go inland then Mougins or (my favourite) St Paul de Vence (not to be confused with Vence).

Lilacdew · 25/05/2024 23:22

St Paul de Vence is very pretty and nearby, but inland. Antibes is nice too.

Radiatorvalves · 25/05/2024 23:33

If you have a car and can go inland a bit, prices will drop. Somewhere near Castellane or Digne. Or a bit further into the alps… towards the Col d’Allos. You’ll find something. If you don’t mind going a little further and you’re early July, DM me.

If you like Italy: we fly to Nice to get to the Ligurian coast and hinterland which has amazingly beautiful historic towns. We especially love Cervo, and for a day visit, old Bussana Vecchia. Or if you prefer down by the coast, places like Alassio, Laigueglia, Diano Castello etc. We usually do Airbnb so cannot offer hotel recommendations

Thanks all! This is super helpful ☺️

We went to Villefranche last year and it is a quaint town for a few days. Booked an apartment through booking.com and it was lovely with fantastic views.
