Child’s first passport waiting time

Hi, I applied for my son’s first passport. Gave documents in. After receiving them they asked for my birth certificate to confirm my place of birth (I think on some of their records it says the town I’m born in rather than the city which I explained to them on a cover letter). They have received my birth certificate as tracking shows it’s been delivered. How long do you think until I will get any update from them? Just hoping the application is approved etc as I’m going away in exactly a months time. Sent application a while ago but since they asked for my birth certificate took a while to get mine to send it to them. Has anyone had a similar experience? Also if they decline passport photo do they tell you right at the end or before asking for documents? Thanks in advance x

I recently redid 2 x children's passports (but not first) and even with a photo change on one of them I had the new passports two weeks from first online application.

I applied for my son's first passport on the 17th and received it on the 27th.

I had to post his birth certificate which I did on the Thursday, they received it Friday morning (I tracked it) but it wasn't until Monday evening that I got a text telling me the passport office had the document.

You should have plenty of time.

Thank you both for your replies. Still no update on the application. I rang up and they said they’ve left a note on my application but I read somewhere they always just say that. Hoping it comes soon I applied on 3rd of April. Sent documents as soon as they asked. Sent my birth certificate after too which they asked for and now it’s like they’re not updating me anymore on it :(

Update - Great news! I got a text message & an email saying the passport has been approved and is being printed. Not sure whether it was just luck or the fact that I rang them up today but either way so glad I’ve finally been updated :)

I sent my child's first passport off about 3 weeks ago. The document checks took the longest was about a week but then the details on gov website updated rapidly and they were here within 4 working days so about 11 days wait in all. Now it's been printed within 48 hours or so it should be sent

Hi hope someone here could help. I applied and paid for my child's first passport today but we are moving out of the current address next week. Has anyone been given an opportunity to update or enter the delivery address? Thanks!
