Looking for recommendations for our first family holiday abroad with Dds aged 2 & 4. Walking distance to child friendly beaches and restaurants in a pretty/historic town and ideally quite straightforward to get to. Thanks for any suggestions!

How far abroad would you be willing to go?

American students tend to go back to class around the third week of August, so you might find Cape Cod (Boston area) nice for a family holiday.

The weather would be really nice.

Sorry I should have specified - we'd like to stay in Europe. (although Cape cod is lovely!)

Waterman Beach Village in Croatia

Doesn't that involve both flights and a long ferry?

We have a 3 and a 5 year old and have booked this place via booking.com. It has beach, pools and some entertainment. You can also get the boat to Venice if you fancy it.

Chioggia is nice too - a mini Venice

Malaga and the surrounding area.

Given the age of the children, unless your eldest is School bound in September why not wait till early September and avoid school holiday prices?

Forgottenmyphone · 03/05/2024 12:00

@Howisitnotobvious Op never said anything about not wanting to fly. And ferry only takes 50 mins.

HolidayHappy123 · 03/05/2024 12:06

What’s the budget?

I would also avoid school holidays if you can (unless oldest is already at school). Also a lot of places in Europe were crazy hot last August. 🥵

Europe seems to be crazy hot in August, personally I would avoid it. If you want something different I would go to Gotland in Sweden, it’s got history, beaches, good food and it won’t be too busy as schools have gone back. It won’t be too hot either.
Majorca or Menorca are always child friendly options but may be super busy and hot.
