Italy and car seats

Hello,

any advice please.

I am going to italy with my one year old twins (and a helper to carry them - they are going on our laps).

My friend is picking me up at the other end for a two hour drive. She doesn't have car seats, and we need them in Italy.

My own car seats are massive and I have no idea how we could bring them with us (we are getting to the airport on public transport).

Can we hire car seats from a car hire company without hiring a car.

Any advice? I can't be the only person to face this problem.

Thanks

I think you'll struggle to hire car seats without a car. Why not ring a few well known agencies in advance?

We always take our car seats with us. They are a complete pain to lug around but once you're at the airport you can dump them in the oversized luggage section. However, carting two kids, luggage and two car seats on public transport doesn't sound much fun.

Maybe you should pose the question on Trip Advisor, someone there might be able to advise.

Hi Kattyo, bizarrely we're doing similar in July! Just one 7m old though.. the only solution i've thought of is to get friend to buy cheap carseat in italy. I had a look on ebay.it and i reckon i should be able to buy one delivered for around £20 (not new though but i'd take the chance) would cost the same to put ds's one on our ryanair flight... Also we go every yr so my friend can store them at her house for further use....Would that be an option for you?
