Hello :)

planning a driving trip with our daughter who will be almost 2. We’re having a long travel day of driving from near Rouen to Ile de Re (down the A28/11/87 through Les mans / angers) Looking for recommendations of places to stop enroute, cute villages/restaurants/kids activities etc!

any recommendations for ile de re / the dordogne / Bordeaux would also be appreciated! Thank you in advance :)

My top tip for driving through France is to avoid the motorways (tolls, boring) and take the N roads.

Also, the French love McDonald's. Every small-to-medium town has a "McDo" on its edge, near the cheap system-built hotels. It's the best place to pull over for coffee and clean toilets.

Zoo de la Flèche is a super zoo not far from your route. There’s also Arche de La Nature just outside Le Mans which has lots to interest a 2 year old - aquarium, carriage rides, petting farm… For a quicker stop, there’s Parc de Pignerolle at Château de Pignerolle which has lots of open space to run around, pretty gardens, playgrounds and a picnic area with toilets.
If you’re going in July, August or September, then Maïs Aventures Angers makes a good stop.
