Kintyre for 4 days - what can we do?

Planning to spend 4 days in Kintyre (near Carradale) and already planned to stop off at Inverary Jail on the way. Children are 6, 4 and 3 so not that great for going walking. Any ideas of exciting things to do around there would be appreciated?

Tarbert is nice and there is a sort of Scottish culture centre there with pigs and tractors and things.

Lots of beautiful empty beaches...what month are you going? We had a hol there in June once - near Tarbert - with kids aged 14, 11, 8 & 3, we were v lucky with the weather so spent hours on various beaches.

Hmmm - have just been googling trying to find the pigs-and-tractors place but can't...we went 12 years ago, maybe it's closed since then

Nice beach at saddell on the carradale road - where the Wings music vid was filmed! The Owl Centre in Campbeltown is really great for the kids and has nice play area. If you have a DH/DP go to the gold foundry in Carradale and make sure you leave with something Our wedding rings were made there - I am from Campbeltown so will try and think what else...

Also if the wetaher is good pop down to Southend for the best beaches and stop at Muneroy tearoom for lunch or cakes - Frances there makes fab cakes and she is very child friendly!

Have also heard good things about the food at 'Dunvalanree' in carradale. ALso there is a nice walk (not too far) aloing the seafront in Campbeltown which leads to a good playpark for the kids and the little putting green there might be open too.

Thanks everyone for those ideas - we are going on Thursday until Sunday so not long to go and we are looking forward to it. Someone suggested a ferry to Arran but I'm not sure how great it would be as there wouldnt be that much to do when we got there without a car but we might get the ferries home and drive that way.
