Villa or hotel compromise 🤯

Myself and our 11 year old want a villa holiday this year, husband and 14 year old want a hotel. I’m happy to stay in an aparthotel and get the best of both, but everywhere just looks uncomfortable! I don’t want any of us on a sofa bed as I know it would cause misery. Has anyone stayed somewhere comfortable in Spain / Greece / Portugal with beds for all, near a beach on about 3.5k budget? Would spend a bit more on the right place.

I don't know how much it will cost these days but we stayed in a villa at Thanos Studios in Skiathos. It's on a site with other apartments so you get the social aspect that your 14 year old is probably after (we went through that with DS) but private accommodation.

There’s a great one in Eixample in Barcelona. Walking distance to the beach, safe area, lots of nice restaurants and delis nearby.

Years ago we stayed in Quinta do Paraiso, in Carvoeiro, Portugal. We stayed in a villa with its own pool, in a complex of villas and apartments, but also had access to a larger shared swimming pool, evening activities, mini golf, restaurant etc. It was walking distance to the town centre and beach (although all uphill on the way back!). It can't have been too expensive, as we didn't have a big budget, but I've no idea on price now! But it was good compromise of villa/hotel.

Pine Cliffs Portugal and Sun Gardens Dubrovnik had apartments as part of a wider hotel complex.

I don't do domestic drudgery on holiday but I like being able to have breakfast in the room and then lunch etc in the complex.

Self catering is just like the same shit but in a different country.
