Travelling with 1 YO DC

Hello!
First time Mum here, looking for advice. Will be travelling with a 1 YO and moving between islands in the Balearics this summer. I have a Yo-yo which will be great, but wondering what to do about Car Seats. We won’t be hiring a car, but need a solution for car seat for a few short taxi rides. Our car seat and base are so heavy. What do people do when travelling? Ideas are to rent a Doona - weight wise I think it’s still recommended for DC. Or do we just check our seat without the isofix base? I’ve seen some chats about taxis having seats - but thinking this could be risky ( who knows how many seats are available ) Any advice greatly appreciated!

What are you talking, 12 months ish or closer to 2? If they still fit in the infant carrier then belt fit that. If it’s compatible with the yoyo frame then even better, they can’t see much when you put it on with the seat but at least it means less for you guys to carry when it’s a travel day. If the baby seat is out grown then it’s going to be really difficult because toddler seats are very heavy and awkward to lug about so I’d probably rethink the itinerary to be less reliant on taxis.

How long are the taxi rides and will they be going on motorways/busy roads? If short journeys on slow roads I’d be happy with baby on my lap, as if on a bus or train.

For longer/motorway journeys I would try to pre book a taxi that will have the right car seats but agree it can sometimes not work out on the day. Are you staying in hotels as they may be able to recommend a reliable company?

Thanks. 13/14 Months so might get away with the infant seat and your right it does fit into the Yo-yo ( thanks that’s a great point!)

If you’re willing to make a new thread under car seats and post the make and model of the seat and DC’s percentile there are some really knowledgeable posters lurking who can likely give you an idea of when you can expect it to be outgrown. I would have thought most babies would fit most infant seats at around that age though. And I would definitely scrap the Doona idea- it doesn’t give you anything that the yoyo + car seat you already own doesn’t.
