Two days in Zurich

I am going to Zurich for work next month and I have a free day either side of my work commitments to do some tourist stuff. Should I spend both days in Zurich and if so what should I do? Am considering a half day trip somewhere too, any suggestions? It's my first time in Switzerland so open to anything really.

It'll get a main dish in an Italian restaurant or main and drink in say a Chinese restaurant chain like Mr Wongs. A pizza is usually around 18-20chf.

Thanks. I just looked up the hotel I am staying in and it's £20 for a bowl of cauliflower soup 😱

The art gallery is free on a Tuesday and lovely. The bus boat that goes round the lake is good value (by Swiss standards anyway).

Migros is a good shout. We found the food prices upsettingly high!

Thanks, assume you can get on the lake 'bus' at any of the piers / ports (whatever they are called??)

Yes, we got on at the main west side one, looped round and then and then got off a bit up the river and walked to the old town. Where we had extremely expensive pizza!

There is a river bus boat that goes a little way out onto the lake then up the river limmat but it is apparently hard to see any view from the new electric boats as the seats are too low.

There are larger ships that go around the lake and do mini cruises or short cruises eg to Lindt museum. They start from Burkliplatz. These have a better view.

James Joyce is buried there, the graveyard has great views of the city, one of the highlights of Zurich for me

Look for a local Aldi, Lidl or Denner (cheapest) to at least stock up on some snacks, drinks or fruit!
