Wwyd? Can you help us make a decision?

We are looking for an all inclusive with plenty of facilities, near a beach and a nice town. We also want not too long flight, good flight times. We'll be spending most of our time in the hotel so the facilities are important.

We have found somewhere that looks great but they offer two room types.

Room type 1 is a hotel room style and would mean me, dh, 16yo ds and 11yo ds all sharing a small room with two sofa beds.

Room type 2 is a suite with two bedrooms but it is significantly more money. 1k more.

Wwyd? Would all of us sharing a bedroom for 10 nights be hellish?

If you can afford it, room 2 definitely. Room 1 is just a recipe for arguments as you are all on top of each other

Rainallnight · 24/03/2024 11:11

Definitely room 2 if you can. You’ll kill each other in one room for ten days

Hecate01 · 24/03/2024 11:11

I've been there and done option 1 and if you can afford it I'd recommend option 2.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 24/03/2024 11:13

I’d go for room 2 type.

Canwehaveitall · 24/03/2024 11:16

I'm leaning more towards thinking room 1 would be horrible. No privacy, mess, bickering. It's one thing doing it with small children but with teens you need a bit of space.

Dh thinks it will be ok and thinks the extra money could pay for a UK mini break.

Have you checked the option of two Room 1s? We found that this option didn't really cost much more than us all in one room.

BeckiWithAnI · 24/03/2024 11:16

Room 2 if it doesn’t break the bank. It’s more the value than the actual cost if that makes sense.

BearlyUp · 24/03/2024 11:26

Room 2 if you can afford it. 10 days is quite a long time for all 4 of you to be sharing a room. That’s 4 people possibly going to bed & getting up at different times, so disturbed sleep. All on top of each other getting ready etc… absolute recipe for arguments. I think it’d be a far more enjoyable holiday with two rooms!

NuffSaidSam · 24/03/2024 11:28

Room 2. Tell DH it's better to have one really nice holiday than a hellish 10 days in Spain and short break in the UK!

chaosandstrife · 24/03/2024 11:34

Another one suggesting you check the price of booking 2 rooms rather than the suite. You have to fib and say one of the adults will be in each room but it’s worth it and usually cheaper.

Rattai · 24/03/2024 11:59

Room 2 for sure.
Apart from the overcrowding...Are you not bothered about no sex on holiday??

Loopytiles · 24/03/2024 12:01

I would spend the extra money, and want to know where your hotel is 😆

Was going to suggest this

ExcitingRicotta · 24/03/2024 12:10

I would rather get the bigger room and go for less time than if you’re worried about the money. Quality not quantity.

youveturnedupwelldone · 25/03/2024 23:33

Room 2 all the way for 10 nights. I get a second room for my DD (12) now if we are away longer than 4 nights, 5 at a push. It costs significantly more (about £1k also) but it's money well spent for us all to have a really nice holiday.

PlumPeer · 26/03/2024 00:11

Given the choice between a hotel room with sofa beds for all of us or splurging on a suite with two bedrooms, I'd go for the suite. Sharing one room for 10 nights with the whole crew could easily get cramped and uncomfortable, making it hard to fully enjoy the trip. Spending a bit more for the suite would ensure everyone has their own space to unwind, making the vacation much more enjoyable overall.

Bjorkdidit · 27/03/2024 04:49

Sounds like room 1 would be false economy.

If you don't want to pay the extra £1k, you'd be better off going for 6/7 days rather than the more cramped option 1.

PickledPurplePickle · 27/03/2024 05:40

Don't all share for 10 days, your 16 year old won't want to share with you and sofa beds for 10 days is too much
