We have a five day window for a special birthday - kid free.

We've narrowed it down to Prague or Barcelona.

Hmm - I was going to say Prague in August as it might be cooler - but last time we were there in the summer it was nearly 40 degrees and no sea breeze. So Barcelona would probably win if you could stay by the beach / find somewhere with a rooftop pool.

Barcelona is in serious drought at the moment so you may find life as a tourist is restricted (no swimming pools etc)

I've never been to Barcelona in August but we went to Prague in August a few years ago and it was HEAVING. Sooo many people shuffling round the castle and over Charles Bridge. You couldn't see a thing and it wasn't pleasant.

We went to Prague in August for our silver wedding anniversary, it wasn't much hotter than most British summers, around 27 degrees. It was busy though, we normally go in winter.

There's loads to do , plenty of beer gardens.
We did it a a 2 centre with Ceszky Krumlov which I'd highly recommend
