Two nights
We want to be in a city/big town for sightseeing (a bit), shopping, drinking, eating. Hotel contemporary but not over-priced.
Have already been to Edinburgh, Bristol, London.
Was wondering about Brighton / Bath / York maybe?
Give me some inspiration and reassurance we will have a romantic and fantastic time. I'm very that Paris is off

Thanks for lovely idea about travelodge, sounds fab

Yes, was considering london as well. It's not like you can 'do' London in one go, so there'll be plenty of stuff going on.

Oh I don't know!

Maybe if I put some £££s towards it as well we can do Babington??!!

Min two nights stay Thurs-Sat at Babington, sadly.

My friend once had a girly weekend at somewhere near Banbury or something - called the Blue Boar?? (but have googled it and can't find it so prob wasn;t called that) It had champagne on tap and gorgeous restauarnt and individual rooms.

its is fab, you even get TWO free tea bags and two of those little cups of uht milk and a few biccys too.

also the beds are lush, much nicer than sleeping in a tent

Hotel du Vins are usually great. We stayed at the Cheltenham one in January and it has a spa. My massage was GREAT. Prices start at £99 per room without breakfast.

What about Leamington Spa? Lots to do nearby, shops, Warwick, Stratford?

newshmoo · 01/04/2008 20:28

Would recommend The George Hotel Inveraray, outside Glasgow, room called 'Merchants'has deep double jacuzzi and the food is divine.

Thanks for recommendations. Will save this thread and links for future. Have made a decision to go to......

..... Birmingham!!! We always love shopping and eating there anyway, but have decided to have a day doing just that, booked into Hotel du Vin for evening and meal in Bistro, more shopping next day (poss new wedding ring from jewellery quarter as I have gone and lost mine - DER). Then will pop back to MIL and FIL's house to see the dds for a few hours, then back to home town for a big meal and night out with friends. Hurrah! Feel very happy about that - won't be fretting now about how much money dh is having to shell out.
