Could anyone recomment a resort?
Flights are v cheap in April and while it wasnt on my list for places to go, im thinking a nice AI might hit the spot for my R & R holiday.
Any thoughts?Jsut DH and i, a week in april. Flights are to Marakesh.

Loved Essoueira. Much less manic than Marrakesh.

DespairAgony · 15/02/2024 14:39

My Dad has and never shuts up about it

ClawedButler · 15/02/2024 14:41

Another vote for Essoueira. It's lovely, right by the sea, and you still get all the bazaars and stuff you'd find in Marrakesh without so much craziness.

imjusthere4 · 15/02/2024 14:43

We loved Morocco - been to Tangier , Fed and Chefchouhen. However please check the April dates - if the dates are during Ramadan then you might find that shops and many activities are closed during the day as people there might be observing fasts!

Doteycat · 15/02/2024 14:46

Wont be Ramadan on our date, thanks for the tip!
I know nothing about Morocco, is Essouriea a resort in itself?
Any AI places to reccommend?
Would I go a package?

I really enjoyed Marrakesh. We stayed in a RIU AI and it was lovely. Going into the city centre is a bit manic but I love going to places like that. And with the lovely AI resort you have a base to chill. It's definitely on my list of places to go back to.

Chocbuttonsandredwine · 15/02/2024 14:52

We stayed on the outskirts of Marrakesh, at hotel 2ciels. Would totally recommend, peaceful, adult only and about 30 mins walk to medina

DramaAlpaca · 15/02/2024 14:53

Marrakesh is fascinating but crazy busy.

I'd recommend Essaouira as a resort. It's on the coast about 2.5 hours drive from Marrakesh. There are other resorts further south that attract a surfing crowd, but helpfully I can't remember their names, sorry.

amylou8 · 15/02/2024 14:55

Marrakesh is great, because you can be right in the centre of town but still in a AI resort hotel. Or for something a bit more authentic stay in a riad in the media. Moroccan food is great, and the cost of living is low compared to the UK.
It's an amazing, vibrant city, just a bit smelly and full of camels in places, but that's the fun.

God above easy known i have brainmelt.

Not travelling 2 or 3 hours from the airport.

Can't reccomend a AI in Marrkesh but go to Agadir regularly and would reccmend the RIU there, see one is reccomended in Marrakesh so reckon it would be a safe bet.
Personally if you can I'd stay somewhere else rather than Marrakesh itself, you get hassled at the souks and centre of town, much nicer experience in the smaller towns.

MiltonNorthern · 15/02/2024 14:59

Agadir is beachy and has lots of resorts. Good idea if you want sun and cheap beach holiday.

TinyYellow · 15/02/2024 14:59

If you aren’t especially bothered about it being Morocco, have you thought about one of the Red Sea resorts in Egypt?

Hadalifeonce · 15/02/2024 15:04

We have just booked 9 days in Morocco, first 4 in Marrakech, then on to the coast, we have decided to travel by bus, thought in would be really interesting.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 15/02/2024 15:04

Only thought of Morrocco cos flights offer came up on my feed.
Not bothered really, if its not Morroco ill just do Puerto Mogan.
Its just a whim if I find something easy, anything non easy wont be happening.

We stayed at the melia sol oasis in Marrakech at Xmas. Lovely hotel, free bus to the Medina. The souks are a tourist trap so just keep in mind that actual Moroccan people don't really shop there

I'm never bothered about an actual beach on holiday, I just need a pool and a sun lounger.

mitogoshi · 15/02/2024 15:18

Agadir, was only a cruise itinerary stop but booked to go back. Nice resorts, but loved going into the atlas too

Doteycat · 15/02/2024 15:23

I do a lot of sea swimming and having been quite ill, id like to gently get back into it by some lovely warm ocean swimming and build up my stamina again.
Im not interested in not having a beach this time.
