What does this say to you wardrobe wise?
Jjeans? Dress, Cardigans? Swimsuits?
I know what to wear in -8 and I know what to wear in 30degrees.
Not sure about 20 in Feb.
Any suggestiosn?

Linen trousers and t shirts. You might find it warm enough for shorts. Take a light puffer jacket and cardigan for night.

BarrelOfOtters · 15/02/2024 13:13

The locals will be wearing jeans and coats.

Having just gone back from Valencia it’s colder than you think. Jeans and a tshirt but needed sweater in the day and a coat at night.

countdowntonap · 15/02/2024 15:00

I’m in Malaga now. This week I’ve worn bikinis, shorts, dresses - tights, jeans, shirts and a big coat!
When the sun’s out it’s lovely but in the evening the coat is needed to sit outside. It’s been really pleasant weather but did use all of my 20kg luggage allowance.

This made me laugh. I used to live in HK and at 19.9 degrees the Canada Goose jackets all come out and we got the “cold weather warning” on the weather app.

Thanks All!!

Haha yes, every time we go away in our winter we can feel the locals looking at us as if we are bonkers in our t shirts while they March about in puffa jackets and boots 😂

Twilightstarbright · 15/02/2024 17:33

We normally go in Feb half term. Daytime is jeans, Birkenstocks, vest top and cardi. Evening I add a coat. Sometimes in the sun I’m in the vest top and no cardi. Enjoy!

Mandarinaduck · 15/02/2024 17:35

20 degrees for me is jeans, a light jumper and possibly a jacket. Definitely not shorts or summer clothes.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 16/02/2024 23:11

Depends very much if the sun is out or not, and whether there is any wind .
So far this week I've worn shorts and a t shirt and paddled in the sea, other days thin harem pants / leggings and a T shirt with cardigan / long sleeve shirt over the top . Sandals on my feet . One day we had rain and I wore jeans, trainers and hoody and a waterproof . In the evening you will probably need a sweater and a proper jacket - as @countdowntonap says - you need your full weight allowance to pack for all eventualities .

If the forecast says 20 degrees and it's sunny, the local weather indicators are showing 21-25 degrees. It may go down to around 15-16 though .

Whereabouts are you staying ?

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 16/02/2024 23:33

Also - don't forget to pack a light waterproof / foldable umbrella because if it does rain it can be heavy !

We spend January each year in Andalucia, near Cadiz, because the weather is so nice -- reliable and with an extra two hours or so of daylight. (It's known as the Costa de la Luz because the light is so wonderful.)
This year we had a couple of wet days and some wind over the month but it was mostly dry and sunny, up to about 19 C. In previous years it's been up to 23.
And yes, the locals can be well wrapped up in puffa jackets and woollen scarves while we visitors are making the most of what to us is pleasant, spring-like weather.
I'd take a light jacket or wrap for evenings, jeans/trousers/skirts, tops, light jumpers, the kind of things you'd take for a UK holiday in May. I wore a long-sleeved dress with a wrap just once, going out for a posh lunch. In previous years when it's been about 23 C I've had to buy a couple of t-shirts as i hadn't brought enough with me. Even this year my heavier jumpers didn't get an airing.

There's not many tourists around in January but British and Scandinavian men are somewhat conspicuous in shorts... Spanish men dress very well IME - good jeans or chinos, shirt, (no short sleeves) and the obligatory cashmere jumper slung around the shoulders.

I'm in the south of Italy and our daily temperatures are currently around 20. Those temperatures by mid afternoon when the sun goes are down to 6-8 and it's very damp in the evenings. (the cars are all wet through on top)

It feels warm from about 10-2/3pm. Then it definitely doesn't.

Trousers/jeans. A jumper. A coat. (I alternate between my unlined winter coat and my M&S puffa jacket) A big scarf. (not a woolly one, a polyester one)

ToothFairy2023 · 17/02/2024 07:21

Depends on you and the day. We were in Dubrovnik couple of years ago in April
and the average temps were around 18-19 during the day. I wore open sandals light tops and crop type trousers during the day and it was lovely. I sunbathed a couple of afternoons in a swimsuit. On a night I wore full length trousers and a lightweight jacket. I was fine.

Oblomov24 · 17/02/2024 07:51

20 degrees isn't that warm when you go
on holiday, for me. I'd probably have lightweight trousers, or jeans rather than shorts, and a cardigan.

Costacoffeeplease · 17/02/2024 09:48

I live in the algarve. We have around 20 degrees daytime at the moment. I’m in jeans and a long sleeved top during the day, but once the sun goes down it can quickly drop 10 degrees so you’ll need some kind of jacket/fleece in the evening. We’re still wearing woolly hats to walk the dog around 7pm

I take it you don't often holiday in Cornwall in the summer!

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 17/02/2024 16:38

Have you arrived in Torremolinos yet @Doteycat ?

Weather today was showing as 18 degrees on the BBC weather. A bit windy but beautiful in the sunshine. I've been wearing cropped leggings, sandals, a tee shirt and a cardigan round my waist to pop on in the shade .

If you spot a short, middle-aged, blonde woman with a midlands accent - give me a wave !
