phil and teds on Virgin longhaul flight?

I am flying to LA in a few weeks with Virgin. Does anyone know if they will allow me to take my phil and teds up to the gate? Also is it true that I will need to dismantle the pushchair to get it through the security scanner etc? Or will it suffice to just fold it up as normal?

You should be able to take it to the gate - they might want to stick it in the hold once you get to the plane but if there is enough room and it folds small enough, they may put it in the cabin.

Not sure about security. When flying from the US, they have always made me completely dismantle my buggy (but I didn't have a Phil & Teds). I tried to avoid taking a pushchair and used a sling when I could.

yes they will. I am in USA currently, bought a stroller specifically, and saw someone with an uber double buggy going to NYC

You will need to check it at the gate, but they will get it back for you I beleive.

I have nothad to dismantle my stroller, although DD was sleeping so it went through the xray machine and they wiped it down with some wipes at heathrow. Been on flights internally in last week from JFK to San Fran and back no problems, in fact they were very helpful on all flights for those with children.

Who you flying with.

I dont mean DD had to go through conveyer belt!!! LOL, pushed her through walk in xra machine that adults go through. When awake though just put it through machine normally. Dont know what they will make you do if its too big, just make sure lil uns asleep!

DOH!you said in OP who you were flying with. Pay no attention to me. My time is all over the place I am permanently tired!

We have just flown to Oz and we just had to fold p&t as normal and put it on conveyor belt. Easy really.

We have just come back from NZ via LAX. We only had to fold the stroller as normal to put it through the x-ray thingy.

They managed to "lose" the pushchair at LAX and we didn't get it back until Heathrow.

Be warned that LAX has very few facilities, and no outlets selling babyfood once through security....

Thanks for the replies. It sounds as if I should be ok to take the phil and teds to the gate. Just a bit worried about having to totally dismantle at Heathrow as DH won't be with me- I guess I'll have to practise how to do it just incase :/. Thanks for the tip evenhope. Have been to LAX pre-children and do seem to remember there was noting except, bizarrely, a WHSmith at the arrivals bit! We are being met at LAX so that bit will be fine.
