Gatwick Airport Hotel

Can anyone recommend which Gatwick Airport hotel to use the night before a trip? We fly at 12 so not especially early and will be arriving by train the evening before. Thank you!

Yep we always stay at Premier Inn - twilight bag drop and food in the hotel.
You'll need to get the shuttle from station between the terminals

EggTheFirst · 23/01/2024 23:01

We’ve just booked the Bloc hotel at Gatwick as it’s so close and we have a very early flight, cheap and cheerful! (Compact and bijou?!)

BestIsWest · 23/01/2024 23:04

Another shout for the Premier Inn, it was fine. We had some kind of meal deal which included dinner and breakfast and they weren’t bad.

Senseofsomething · 23/01/2024 23:08

Thanks all. I was just looking at Bloc Hotel, location very convenient!

We stayed at Sofitel. Didn’t rate the rooms but twilight bag drop, rooms and location very handy - it’s literally two minutes walk through a tunnel to north terminal security.

VWT5 · 23/01/2024 23:23

Bloc hotel right next to departures is good for an early flight, but otherwise depressing in a windowless box - unless you upgrade for a window.
Prem Inn Gatwick north every time for us - easy.

practicepracticepractice · 23/01/2024 23:39

Bloc hotel was brilliant and right at the departure gate.

Mumblechum0 · 23/01/2024 23:48

We always stay at the Sofitel because it has a nice cocktail bar in the atrium, I always have a couple of Aviators then an early night

FreyafromLondon · 23/01/2024 23:55

I'd say Bloc my daughter is a receptionist there. it's good value for money. Rooms are very small though

Verite1 · 23/01/2024 23:56

Another vote for premier inn. We then walk across and have dinner in the pub in the airport.

PJsallday123 · 23/01/2024 23:59

Sofitel for us. We book a club room. Evening canapés and free drinks in the lounge bar all help yourself. Walk through the tunnel straight in to the airport

snowlady4 · 24/01/2024 01:17

I have stayed at the 2 nearest premier inns. Website says you get the shuttle but we always walk... takes literally 2 minutes! I just go with the cheapest, the newer, bigger one (northside i think,) which is slightly closer- literally across the street- has a better bar area so we tend to go there for a drink even if we're staying at the other one (airport road,). Love the premier inn brekfast but dinner is always a let down to me, so I pop into m&s in arrivals an grab sandwiches, crisps etx for tea! The bigger premier inn has a nice coffee bar in it.
There is a gorgeous hotel next door to premier inn, i haven't stayed in it but it looks lovely if you're treating yourselves.
Also stayed in a yotel room at gatwick, which is actually in the terminal building so comfy and handy.. but no lobby bar or anything- great if you just want to crash though!

If you are going from the South terminal, the Courtyard by Marriot is really convenient - only a few minutes walk. Big rooms (2 double/king beds) and a decent bar. Parking is dear though £25/day. Cheaper options available.

Wetweatherandmud · 24/01/2024 06:25

Sofitel with a club room. It's worth the extra as you get a free minibar and a lounge with free drinks and canapé type food. It saves using the restaurants. It's just through tunnel to the north terminal and easy to get to the south. The bed was super comfortable too.

Lulu1919 · 24/01/2024 06:37

We loved our night at Bloc...we loved watching the planes from the room !!

BlindurErBóklausMaður · 24/01/2024 06:44

Premier Inn always. As above, it's directly opposite the ramp into the North Terminal and the shuttle to South is every couple of minutes.
Reasonable price for an airport hotel. Unlike other places, in an airport, all I need is a bed close to the terminal so I'm not interested in any other extras personally.

disappearingfish · 24/01/2024 06:56

I've stayed in both of the hotels that are "in" the north terminal, can't remember what they are called now but for one you don't even have to go outside, the other is about 100 m from the terminal door. Got good prices through booking.com.

Senseofsomething · 24/01/2024 10:58

Thank you all. I’ve looked at all these and gone with Bloc but room with a window so we can watch planes. I’m travelling on my own with DD from South terminal so the minimal walking will be ideal. You are all so helpful, thanks travellers!

We have booked the Premier Inn at Gatwick Crawley West. It is around 15 minutes drive from the airport but because of this it's much cheaper than the airport hotels, and also has free parking unlike a lot right by the airport. Our flight is around 11am so the 15 minute drive doesn't bother us. We paid £35 for a family room in February but I did book it a few months ago.

cheezelouize · 24/01/2024 16:52

Sofitel. We stay every time

That's the nice one I was talking about.. couldn't think of the name. My friends stay there but I haven't- the breakfast looks divine!
