Hi can anyone tell me if the weather is warm in Feb ? We’re thinking about half term with a teen

It will be warmish, not hot - probably high teens. I have been twice. In April it was about 20 degrees and in May it was about 24 degrees. This is by the coast in Funchal. The island is mountainous so higher up it can be quite chilly.

The north of the island is cooler. It is a beautiful island with loads to see and do.

Did you see the flight radar thread at the weekend? Lots of flights were struggling to land many very redirected to the Canaries etc. I'd be looking at typical wind speeds rather than temperature as it would be rubbish to be stuck on the plane and get turned around.

Very low 20s when we went in feb. Nice to sit out but not really fully sunbathing weather.

We're in the minority though as we didn't like it there

Yes warmish but the weather has been pretty bad of late, and if it's windy the airport has terrible issues with landing planes! Look at YouTube feeds from the airport or the Mumsnet thread from Saturday for examples! I personally would opt for the canaries as there's more to do if not that warm

Went in March and was an April Showers on steroids scenario. Mainly bright, great for the flowers, but some ferocious rain and white fog that covered all mountainous views.

You can't predict winds a month ahead though.

It's always a possibility with Madeira. I've been diverted to Tenerife where we sat on the runway for an hour till they were able to try again and landed okay. If they hadn't been able to, we'd have been taken to Lisbon for the night. Still love it there though.

Weather should be quite a bit warmer than here in Feb, but not sunbathing time. Jumper/coat for evenings or away from south coast.
