Help me plan an adventure!

For various reasons my 10yr old has had a difficult time this last year or so and as a treat I’ve promised a European adventure this summer. It’s just us two.

I’m thinking of flying into somewhere and then training it around a few cities. Does anyone have any recommendations of routes/ great places/ places a bit different to visit. I was thinking maybe some Scandinavia (although maybe too pricey) or some Eastern Europe. I don’t really want to do cities like Berlin, Paris, Brussels. Lovely as they are I’m looking for something a bit different - to show the different cultures of the world a bit!

It will probably only be 7-10 days (dependent on how expensive it is!) so not a massive tour but hoping to do something fun. Not luxury, but not hosteling either. Any ideas or experiences v welcome!!

I love the idea of Scandinavia and incorporating a ferry to Tallinn. I d love to do this with my own similarly aged daughter. I've never been to Sweden but I recently went to Copenhagen and was surprised that the prices for many things are comparable to England. I think those countries haven't seen such high inflation so it's evened out a bit. Went to Paris at Christmas and found that was expensive ( it always has been I guess) Enjoy !

@Havefacewilltravel Don't blame you at all! I've never really been much of a resort person but they are definitely the easier option at the moment! I remembered another one we did - Copenhagen with the train to Malmo. It was just a day trip to Malmo for us but you could probably go on from Malmo to Stockholm and then get a ferry to Helsinki/Tallinn/Riga. The train between Copenhagen and Malmo goes on the half bridge, half tunnel between Denmark and Sweden (the one from the TV programme 'The Bridge') which was pretty cool. So many good options around there! We thought Vilnius was a lovely little city too if you can make it there as well (we just had a long weekend there, didn't travel to anywhere else). (Can you tell I'm missing my city breaks?!)
