BA Business Class - worth it?

Hoping to go to NYC for a short break in September, wanting to book in the BA sale, for three people (adults).

Using avíos we can fly from our regional airport via LHR, economy outbound and business on the way home for £3153 total.

Flying economy each way we’d save about £1500 and could get our hotel included for a similar price to what we’d pay for flight only with business class inbound seats.

For context the flight home would be a night flight.

Is it worth it? That additional £1500 we would pay is affordable but we’re not so aFfluent that we wouldn’t notice it. Plenty of other things we could spend it on!!

Yay glad you made a decision, I’m sure it’ll be lovely! Definitely the correct call to prioritise 4 nights in a hotel vs. 6 hours on a plane IMO. Hope you’re excited!

We've often done a v similar combo - great choice and it'll be amazing: couldn't have picked better dates!

Well because I hate not getting a resolution on threads, although tbf this didn’t really need one. I ended up booking with BA, economy there, PE back, 4 nights in 4* well reviewed hotel (4.6 on trip advisor) flying to and from my regional airport 3 adults in September for what I thought was a pretty good price of £2931.

The price with Virgin for same airports and class of flights was approx £350 more and outbound flight times were much worse and in 3* hotel.

I would always stump for a decent hotel over a flight anytime

Starting to get very excited about it now but can’t talk about it as it’s a surprise for DD. Need to keep it under my hat for almost 8 months. I might explode 🤣

Thank you for all the advice though chaps, it’s been really helpful.

I plan to keep saving the avíos for our planned grand florida trip when youngest finishes his GCSE’s.

Personally I don't think so. I've flown BA Economy, Premium Economy, Business and even First once to NYC with Avios. For me, I think the only class worth paying out for is Premium Economy. But it really depends on what the experience is worth to you. I didn't have to fork out too much for First (it was about 15 years ago?), but I had always coveted it and always thought it was well out of reach even with 100% Avios, so it was worth it to me when the opportunity came up. I think only you can decide. Have fun whatever you do!

For me the big plus is the ease of check in, not having to queue to get on the plane and getting off first. Makes everything so much easier. For a 21 I would go for it - the bed is great

When is the B A sale? Thanks!

It’s on until the end of Jan ☺️
