Did you spend Christmas abroad?

We are looking at spending next Christmas abroad with our DC, aged 17 and 18. Can you recommend anywhere for some good winter Sun? Or equally happy with somewhere charming that doesn't need to be sunny!

We just done Tenerife in a villa and loved it. We were based in Los Chistianos, went to Las Americas a few nights which was 6 euros in a taxi and also had a couple of nights in chilling. You need a heated pool. It was 25 during the day and at night was a bit cooler and most nights we needed a light jacket or cardigan. Would highly recommend it. Las Americas strip is beautiful with all the decorations.

We've been to Madeira for Xmas twice. Temp is c.20, might get a bit of rain.
It's a beautiful place, plenty of good food in Funchal, wide range of hotels

Costa Rica is an amazing place. For somewhere cheaper, I agree with pp on Madeira.

Thanks for the suggestions. Was everything open in Tenerife or was a lot closed?

We were in Lanzarote. Fabulous and everything open although closed slightly earlier Christmas Eve.

@wondabar I haven't been to the Canaries for Christmas but they are renowned for being an all year destination and are just as popular in winter as they are in the summer. So yes I assume everything will be open at Christmas.

I have many friends who go to Tenerife every Christmas.

We went to Mexico and it was amazing! Playa del Carmen, just south of Cancun
